45th AREA 45 GENERAL SERVICE CONVENTION
May 5 2008 MEETING MINUTES
The presiding Chair for this year’s convention Joe Mc welcomed everyone and opened with the serenity prayer

Stella J presentation on the last 45 years of the convention1st convention was held in 1965 at Costello Junior High in Gloucester NJ convention held from 12:30pm to 8:45 pm 1968 convention changed to Hammonton Jr/Sr HS Hammonton NJ 1969 convention moved to Rancocas Valley Regional HSagain only from 12:30 –9pm1970 convention changed again to Seaside Hotel Atlantic City NJ10am –12 midnight convention included a dance1971 convention became a 2 day event Saturday and Sunday 1977 13th convention it became a 3 day event 1981 the convention moved to the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City NJ1985 when AA celebrated 50 years-Alice H chair of the convention changed the format. She stated that she had gone to another convention in another state and brought back ideas. We were still at the Flanders Hotel .It worked
The convention stayed there until our 25th Annual Convention. that was in 1989.We had to leave because we outgrew the hotel. We reached over 1000 attendees.The convention moved again to Cherry Hill Inn in March 1990In March 1992 we moved again to Sheraton Poste Inn in Cherry Hill NJ Rt70 and I295 Cherry Hill NJIn 1994 we moved to the Hyatt Hotel on 2349 W Marlton Pike Rt 70 Cherry Hill NJWe moved to the Sheraton Inn on 1450 Rt 70 East Cherry Hill NJ in 1995
In 1996 we moved to the Hilton Hotel on Rt 70 Cherry Hill NJ In 2007 the Hilton Hotel changed their name to the Crowne Plaza this is our present location in Cherry Hill NJ

Treasurer, has started setting up the bank where he will make deposits. Also is looking into a credit card operation to be done at the convention. Looking to clear up any last minute receipts from the 44th Convention. Unity, Has already been in contact with the Wilson house and we will have to decide if we can make it on the dates given or look for a different date. A number of chairs will not be at the mtg. tomorrow as they had previous engagements. A brief up-date. Contacted the Wilson House, the only available weekend is November 21-23. This is the weekend before Thanksgiving. They are holding the house for us but we have to make a decision today if we want to book it. The only other possibility is 10 rooms are available on September 3rd.
Informed everyone that the Wilson House assistant manager, Dean M, passed away on April 8, Please remember Dean in your prayers.

New Business · Discussed 44th Area convention wrap up meeting· Greatest convention ever· Red ball meeting was moved it will be put back to the previous location because of pillars· Stewart asked for volunteers for his committee· Patrick Co Chair-mentioned the suggestion to keep the Old Timers Panel the same with the exception of giving them 3 minutes to speakElaine spoke about General Service conference and meeting with Eva Sanchez · Heatheranne suggested less skits for the workshops
